The Progress of Redemption course is a class that seeks to find the unity of Scripture. The modern reader coming to the Bible is confused as to "what" the Bible is. The Bible has 66 different books written by over 30 different authors. The Bible includes all kinds of genres from history, to poetry, to drama, to sermons, to narrative texts, to genealogies, to eschatological writings, to gospels, and many other genres. The biographies in the Bible seem strange and the inclusion of stories seems odd. What is the Bible and what is it trying to accomplish? The course seeks to help the reader of the Bible understand how the different books of the Bible fit together. What rules of inclusion were used to tell us what the Bible reveals for us?
This unity is found in understanding how the different genres fit together as we trace the redemptive theme of Scripture. God gives us a goal in the very first pages of the Bible and then pursues that goal through the rest of the text. The Progress of Redemption traces the Bible from the seed of God's promise to the world of God's glory.
