Frequently Asked Questions

What is Community Church of Ephrata all about?

Community Church is about finding life through what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross almost 2,000 years ago.  His death on the cross enabled a holy God to meet and transform regular, everyday people.  We are following this God into living life with new meaning, transforming marriages and families, and being active in our community helping others in life-changing ways.  Community Church is a church filled with sinners, those who have been in rebellion against God, but who have surrendered their lives to God because of Jesus’ love for us.

We are also a church excited to have among us those who do not yet know Jesus Christ and who are investigating what Christianity is all about.  Our ministry is designed to help the person new to Christianity to find a safe place to ask questions and seek answers about spiritual things.  Even skeptics and atheists will be comfortable here because we believe that God has called us to ask real questions about faith and to seek truth and understanding.  We also believe that everyone deserves respect because everyone is created in God’s image.  You will find a safe place to seek answers at Community Church.

What time are Sunday morning worship services?  What is available for my children?

Community Church’s worship service begins at 9 am on Sunday mornings and goes to 10:15 am.  There is nursery for newborn to three years old during the worship service.  Halfway through the worship service, after the offering time, children aged pre-K to 2nd grade are released for a children’s worship time suited to their age.  Children are always welcome to stay in the worship service, but if they become disruptive, there is a quiet room located at the back of the sanctuary entered from the hallway in the fellowship room.  From this quiet room parents can see and hear the worship service and sermon, but not disrupt others in worship.

After worship, you can expect a time of fellowship and coffee with others who have attended that morning.  This 15 minute time is a great way to meet some new friends and find people who are much like you.  We realize that one of the most difficult things to do when attending a new church is making some personal connections, but we promise, the average person doesn’t bite at our church, and those that do have already received their rabies shots!  Stay and give us a chance to welcome you!

After the fellowship time, there is a Sunday School program for adults and children.  The children are broken into age appropriate classes and taught by caring teachers who have had national criminal background checks.  There are classes for adults to learn more about the Bible and how it applies to real life.

What do I wear?

Community Church is a very relaxed, laid back, and welcoming community.  You will find people dressed in casual clothes for the most part, but there are always a few people dressed more formally.   Please feel free to dress casually and relaxed, God doesn’t have a dress code required to worship him.

What is available for my teens?

There are classes for both junior and senior high students on Sunday morning, but also a youth group for each of these age groups on Sunday evening.  Our youth are involved in fun times together as they discover and solidify their faith.  We aim to have one of the most active youth groups in town!

Where is the church office?

How do I get connected at Community Church of Ephrata?

Community Church has a few important ways to learn about the church and get connected.  The first way is by attending a Get Acquainted Dinner where you will have the opportunity to meet and some key leaders of the church.  We share dinner together and then more about our church from some of our leaders.  Childcare is provided and if interested, please let us know by filling out a Connect Card on your Sunday morning visit.

For other questions, please call our church office (509) 754-6130 and ask to speak to Dave Abdo, our interim pastor.  He would be glad to plan a coffee to discuss your journey and our church.
