WHAT WE BELIEVE
As a church in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, we hold to the “Seven Essentials of the Faith”:
We believe in one God, existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ, the living Word, became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth.
The Holy Spirit has come to glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to our hearts.
Being estranged from God and condemned by our sinfulness, our salvation is wholly dependent upon the work of God’s free grace.
The true Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit are united together in the body of Christ.
Jesus Christ will come again to the earth personally, visibly, and bodily—to judge the living and the dead, and to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.
The Lord Jesus Christ commands all believers to proclaim the gospel throughout the world and to make disciples of all nations. All are welcome to join us for worship, whether they affirm these seven essentials or not.
OUR MISSION
Community Church is about finding life through what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross almost 2,000 years ago.
Transformation
His death on the cross enabled a holy God to meet and transform regular, everyday people. We are following this God into living life with new meaning, transforming marriages and families, and being active in our community helping others in life-changing ways.
Surrender
Community Church is a church filled with sinners, those who have been in rebellion against God, but who have surrendered their lives to God because of Jesus’ love for us. We are also a church excited to have among us those who do not yet know Jesus Christ and who are investigating what Christianity is all about.
Safe Place
Our ministry is designed to help the person new to Christianity to find a safe place to ask questions and seek answers about spiritual things. Even skeptics and atheists will be comfortable here because we believe that God has called us to ask real questions about faith and to seek truth and understanding. We also believe that everyone deserves respect because everyone is created in God’s image. You will find a safe place to seek answers at Community Church.
OUR HISTORY
Community Church of Ephrata began in February 2005 when a group of believers, desiring to follow the Lord as taught in His Word, came together to plant a church. As we walked this road, we found our passions, convictions, and values resonated with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (epc.org) and joined the EPC Presbytery in the Spring of 2005. The first few years we met in a local school gym and through the Lord’s blessings, we were able to move into our current building in 2012.
We are a growing congregation of everyday people who come together in a community…a community of learning and faith, of raising kids and strengthening marriages, of discovering the kind of life God desires for each of us. If you’re looking for a church home—a place to belong and a place to grow—we hope you’ll join us.
